WHAT TO EXPECT
Snippy is a conference where leading experts converge to present the latest research on high strangeness, metaphysics, ancient civilizations, and astronomy. Participants at Snippy will learn new insights about high strangeness, UAP, UAD, cryptic, ancient wisdom, disclosure, astronomy and their personal role in the universe. Astronomers are welcome to turn their telescopes to the night sky.
The International Dark-Sky Association awarded the Great Sand Dunes National Park the much heralded “Dark Sky” status in 2019. It’s one of the darkest skies on earth- limited only by natural airglow and starlight. The darkness at the event grounds is Bortle 2 which is so dark that faint shadows are cast on white objects by the Milky Way. If there is a passing cloud it appears like a black hole in the sky. No light domes impact viewing. It’s dark enough to confuse some into thinking the rising milky way is the approaching sunrise. The Milky Way has faint extensions, making it 50 degrees thick. Because this arid, high desert has scant rainfall, the skies are typically unencumbered by clouds.
KFO is excellent for any type of observation-deep field, binoculars, or just naked eye. KFO sits on 320 acres of Chico brush, dusty desert land that’s 10 miles West of the Snippy UAD. Keri King owns and operates the land where those suffering Noctalgia* come to see the strange and astronomical. On this desolate land, only minor investments have been made to clear a road and campground area, paving the way for larger development starting in 2026. *Feelings of loss of the dark skies.
According to the United States geological Survey of this area, both the Aeromagnetic and Gravitational (Bougier gravity) maps indicate basic field strength, as well as areas of high and low field strength. Areas encompassing both maximum and minimum field strength all have frequent high strangeness sightings. Maybe you’ll join the dozens of people that have reported seeing strange objects from KFO.
The land is primitive with no amenities apart from porta potties and tents for workshops. Those staying on the land should plan for high desert camping at 7,500 ft elevation. There is ample space for trailers, RV’s or tents. You are responsible for everything else- food, water and shelter.
Hotels/restaurants are available about 20 minutes away in Alamosa, but not recommended to get the full effect of the night sky.
THE STORY OF SNIPPY/BACKGROUND
On September 7th, 1967, near the town of Hooper in the San Luis Valley, Snippy, a 3-year-old Appaloosa colt, failed to return to King Family Ranch. Harry King discovered the horses remains a quarter mile from the pioneer ranch house a few days later. The neck and head were completely stripped of flesh, leaving nothing but bare, seemingly sun-bleached, white bone, while the reminder of the mare unscathed.
King returned the next day with others and more questions arose. There was no blood found around the body, and the flesh appeared to have been cauterized with precision. Scorched exhaust marks were found in the vicinity of Snippy and 100 yards away a shrub was squashed flat. Nearby was a series of 6 small, round indentations in the ground, arranged in a circle. There was a green bar- about the size and shape of a stick of butter- near the horse that jiggled like Jell-O when it was swept up for containment.
Nellie King, Harry’s sister, said the ground around Snippy for a 10-foot radius looked like it had been smoothed out and there were no tracks. Nellie’s boots were found to be radioactive and the palm of her hand began to turn red and had a burning sensation after she picked up a horse hair tuft.
No coyotes, birds or bugs would come near the horse as it decomposed. There was radiation discovered around the body’s site using a Geiger counter.
Multiple agencies studied the case and only became as perplexed as the King family: Local police, county Sherriff, Adam's State University, Colorado State University and dozens of independent researchers. This event was deemed a possible alien harvest by some yet the case has been an Unexplained Animal Death (UAD) to this day. Snippy was the 2nd most popular American story of 1967, only eclipsed by The Vietnam War.
